A few years ago I got my cousin to create and manage a few basic, small websites of mine when I didn’t have much webmaster experience. My cousin found a company called TDotHost (TdotHost.com) and recommended that I use it, so I did.

They don’t oversell so you get exactly what you paid for. Support is excellent, wether technical or pre-sales (back in the day a response would be submitted to your query within 0.5-2 hours at the most. The staff are very pleasent, always on hand to help and even going out of their way to help a customer. I also would like to note that the servers are very fast and supported a medium sized forum of mine recently without trouble (Hostgator suspended my forum and required to to pay for a VPS due to my resource usage).

Just to note that the original owner and what I’d call a friend has sold out years ago, however I’ve now found the new owner (Sherif) to be just as (if not more) helpful and friendly.
